Sony BMG Jujitsu Club - 1st Post
Hello,
This is the homepage for the Sony BMG Jujitsu club. This is where members can communicate easily and those interested in joining can have a look about. This page is still fairly new so we're putting new content up all the time.
Both the Jujitsu class, and Self-Defense class are held in the 6th Floor Boardroom and are FREE OF CHARGE. Jujitsu is on Tuesday's 6.30-8.30 and the Self Defense Class is Wednesday's 6.30-8.30.
The Jujitsu Class usually follows our BJJAGB approved syllabus that takes you through the nine belts from red to black. We also learn techniques outside the set syllabus and vary the activities in class. This ensures a more rounded development of the students. The class currently has a mixture of red, white, yellow and orange belt students so there is opportunity to train at every level.
FAQ
How much does this cost?
Nothing. Though if you choose to purchase a Gi (training outfit) these are supplied at cost (under £30)
Looks a bit dangerous, am I going to get hurt?
Although a contact sport, training takes places in a safe, controlled environment and every student's abilities are taken into account before engaging in each activity.
What should I wear?
Initially, Gym gear is fine. Gi's are more robust as some techniques often include grabbing and controlling via someone's clothing.
I don't think I'm built to be able to throw anyone around or be able to overpower someone much larger than me, do I have to get much stronger before taking part?
No, the techniques shown rely on principles of leverage, shifting centres of balance, vunerable points and redirecting attacks safely away from yourself. (Video demostration to be added this week)
If unsure the best thing to do is either speak to somone who already attends, or drop by for a while and see how a lesson progresses.
thanks
